I also used natural progesterone cream (prescribed and pharmacy compounded) applied topically 10 days a month about every 2 months or so, to protect the my uterine lining from excessive build-up and break-through spotting, and will concurrently wean myself off that too. I already was reducing the estradiol gel dose before the heart attacks, so am continuing the process of a slow weaning off of it. After I had my SCAD heart attacks in August 2011, I went to my gynecologist about this, and she felt I should discontinue the HRT. Yes, thank you, Mary, for sharing this info! I have been on HRT, due to extremely high risk for osteoporosis (family history as well as family history of early menopause), since 1991, but always via patch, gel or cream, never orally. ![]()
